Difference between Brain and Mind

Question:

Dear Ektaji, please clear my confusion: A human body has five senses, touch, smell, taste, hear and sight.  While eating food that smells good, looks colorful, and tastes flavorful our stomach send a signal to the brain (mind) that I am full and intellect say to stop eating.  The brain decides to ignore the signal from the stomach or the intellect because it likes the taste, smell, and sight and it keeps on eating. This overeating eventually leads to bad health. Please let me know the difference between brain and mind.

Answer:

Brain belongs to the physical body, it is an organ. Mind is a subtle body. Body and Mind, both are tools.

Mind perceives information from the environment and physical body.

Intellect dissects the information perceived by the Mind and directs the Mind.

When the Mind starts utilizing the body without regards for the feedback from the body or directive from the Intelligence then it is abusing the body and being disrespectful to the Intelligence.

For example, a human body has five senses, touch, smell, taste, hearing and sight.  While eating food that smells good, looks colorful, and tastes flavorful our stomach send a signal to the mind that I am full and intellect say to stop eating.  The brain does not ignore the signal, it is the mind that ignores the signal. The brain is like a puppet, it does not have a mind of its own to decide to accept or ignore. It belongs to the physical body. It just transmits the stomach contraction from the stomach to the nervous system that gives the physical body a feeling of fullness. Brain again is only an organ.

Mind decides to ignore the signal from the stomach or the intelligent because it likes the taste, smell, and sight and it keeps on eating. This overeating eventually leads to bad health. Got it?
